Week 6 - Ideas and Ideas

 Part I: Developing Capstone Ideas

Unlike me, my teammates haven't thought too much about the capstone project, which is totally understandable. However, they do have some ideas, and that's a good start. One teammate used to study nursing, so her focus is on technology for the medical field. Meanwhile, the other members are thinking between video game projects or mobile apps: one for tracking package automatically, one for book searching. In my opinion, those two different ideas are two different paths, one challenging and one safe. Mobile apps are easier to work with while video games are more complex. They did not sound enthusiastic about the apps, but they are lightly taken on video game projects at the same time. No matter how simple a game looks, the inside core is still complex and should not be underestimated. For now, I let my teammates think about their ideas thoroughly. If they choose video game projects in the end, I will support them as much as I can.

Part II: What I learn this week? Final project is coming

With the final project's topic decided, my team and I have started planning for it. At this time, we have already chosen the team manager, whom the topic belongs to. Our manager has brainstormed a rough outline to see what information we need to cover. This topic is also new to other members, including me, so I plan to use the upcoming time to do some research about it. After more information is released from Module 7, our team will decide what to do next.

Moving on to other materials, I enjoyed Module 6 and my self-help book "Napoleon Hill's Keys to Success" a lot. Module 6 taught me about resumes, cover letter and even portfolio. Unlike what I usually see from online resources, Module 6 showed me many elements of resumes and cover letter that I haven't seen before, allowing me to create a simple but effective resume and cover letter. It makes me feel as if I can go out and land an internship immediately.

I'm at chapter 7 of my self-help book. When I chose it, besides earning extra credits for my courses, I wanted to know what aspects of life and success I might be missing. I have read a book "I am gifted, so are you" before, together with many courses such as Personal Finances and my own experience, I have established a guideline for myself. To be honest, I kept a neutral mind when choosing to read this book, because recent self-help books from influencers are not having good reputations. However, coming from my instructor, a university professor with doctorate degree, I believe I made a right choice. And I did. There are so many times I realize I have encountered situations that I could not explain myself, but the book enlightens me. I discovered many aspects I had missed and I'm slowly changing my mind toward positive attitude (more positive than before). There is more knowledge from the book, but for now, with the positive mental attitude, I can smell my success is just around the corner.
