Week 7 - Step into preparation

Part I

My team decided to have two more meetings beside our usual Friday meeting. On Sunday, we met and chose the part of project we like to do. Our team is still using Discord server to communicate and share the documents. Power Point will be our main tool for production, but any supplemental tools such as images, videos are welcome. However, our team manager was busy and could not make it to Sunday’s meeting. We ensure that everyone catches up with the team’s workload or we must modify the schedule in the next meeting. Moreover, if any team member needs assistance on their part, they will let others know and help.

Part II

Tips for presentation:

·         Slides: short keywords and a few bullet points. Don’t read it out.

·         Design: Pick your font and size carefully. Keep words and sentences in place, don’t move them around.

·         Diagrams, charts and graphs: contain crucial data to support what is presenting.

·         Animation, videos, music: have some to make presentations more interesting, but too much makes it hard to see and follow.

·         Acronym: don’t overload and explain the word.

Reflection:

It is a phenomenon software that applied directly to our real world’s problem. Three-word address lets people find location much faster and more precise than before. The software keeps developing so that it will feature other languages. However, I think it should have a guideline of how they choose three words for each cube meters, rather than three random words. But overall, this software brought many benefits, especially for those in rural or desert area in Africa or Mongolia.

Human civilization spread across the whole galaxy

Reflection:

It is always fascinating when I think about humanity travelling in space, discovering and colonizing other planets. However, this video brings out an interesting idea. Instead of launching humans into space, we will launch the Von Neumann Machine, capable of creating and duplicating human organisms on its own. With it, we can create humans and colonize other planets without having to spend lots of resources on space traveling and terraforming. Unfortunately, we don’t have the advanced technology necessary to create the Machine yet.
