Week 10 - Past, Present and Future
This
week I did not have any problem walking through part two of project one, the
Reader file. Thanks to my previous experience with working on my personal
project and writing my own unit tests, the project seems easy to handle so far.
However, there is one tiny problem with the toString() method. Because I can
only override and format the return value for now and I do not know how precisely
it will be. It made me worry a bit since I prefer to finish it and move on,
rather than waiting to test that method later.
Another obstacle I have is with this
week’s materials. There are a lot to handle such as: try catch block, inheritance,
interface, abstract class, static final, casting objects. They are not hard to
understand, but they must be used to fully understand as well as making me feel
confident with them. However, with the upcoming part three of the project and
the jotto assignment, I can have a chance to practice and get comfortable with
those materials.
In addition, I also learned about
the UML diagram and how to make better comments for my codes. They are critical
tools to help me document my work in future projects, and they are exactly what
I was missing in my previous personal projects. I lost track of my work sooner
or later as there were many methods, variables and files when those projects kept
growing. Now with new knowledge, I believe I will do better next time.
