CST 363 - Week 8 (Final)

This is the final week, which means the end for CST 363 is near. I have the habit of looking back at the course and see what useful materials I have learned that can be implied to my personal projects and career.

ER Diagram, a very important section for planning step of every project, is what comes in my mind first. From Software Design course previously, I learned about ER Diagram but did not know how to design effectively. Understanding about entities and their relationships, I now have a clearer view of what I need to do with ER Diagram during the planning step. Moreover, this discovery leads to another, which is designing the database.

Designing the database is not something new to me, as I have been doing it for a while. Figuring out the balance between all data and the files contain them to make sure they are consistent and only handle what they are mean to do. Even when it is not about data, I have to divide the functions into multiple backend and frontend files. And the materials I learned from CST 363 letting me know that I'm doing them correctly. Of course, there are other elements of database tables that I need to account for, but I don't think they are crucial for my projects.

And last but not least is the group assignments. Unfortunately, except one team member, other two members were not great. Even though I was frustrated, those assignments affected me and member's grade. I did not want bad result for myself just because of my feeling. Therefore, I decided to come up with backup plan and work with whatever resources I have (my other teammate). It was a negative experience for me, no doubt, but it was also an opportunity practicing handle a situation that did not go well. In the end, I am glad everything went smooth despite having to do extra work.

And with them, CST 363 is wrapped up.
