CST 336 - Internet Programming (week 1)

 Week 1 - Portfolio & Capstone Project

1. Overview

  • It was fascinating to implement what I have learned in Graphic Programming immediately into Internet Programming. There are many new materials such as header (h1, h2), class (.) and id (#), getting Google Forms, etc. making the experience became interesting furthermore.
  • Therefore, with the fire was still burning in my soul, I wanted to invest both the Lab 01 (E-Portfolio) and Homework 01 (Capstone Project's website). Even though both assignments don't return much more than I spent, they were both amazing assignments to improve my skills and I look at Capstone Project's website as future investment.

2. Portfolio

  • Even though we already have a portfolio at the beginning of our Online Programming (CST 300 - Pro Seminar), creating another E-portfolio is not a problem. In the opposite, it was an amazing experience. That was because I can make a website with theme and style on my own. Yes, the website needs a server that need to be paid annually / monthly. However, the ability to customize everything on my own is just too hard to turn away.
  • So, with the same style I used in the Final Project of CST 325 - Graphic Programming, I implemented it into my E-Portfolio. With the creative opportunity, I decided to make the website into futuristic style with Starship Trooper theme.

3. Capstone Project

  • Homework 01 is about choosing a topic related to Computer Science with four subtopics to talk about. With the permission from my Professor, I decided to choose my Capstone Project - Wealth & War as my topic. There were lots of subtopic to talk about, so I chose first four: the inspiration, the initial ideas, the economy concept and the military concept.
  • From previous assignment (Lab 01), I learned that my website doesn't work well on phone, or those with height longer than width. Therefore, on Homework 01, because this website is a long-term goal for me, I invested furthermore to fix the problem. Now, it's not the best to display on phone, but it works well. The website turned out nicely. However, I don't plan to stop it there. I keep working on it to add more pages, more details and making the website becomes even more engaging.
