CST 370 Algorithms - Week 2
Week 2, we started diving into Algorithms, the "bread & butter" of this course. I used to study about Algorithms back in Community College. However, at that time, I did not pay much attention to these materials since they were not the major core of that course. But that does not mean all are wasted. While learning through brute force, recursive, runtime complexity, I have the mindset of "I knew about this". Thanks for that mindset, I have a clear mind and able to absorb those materials with ease. I used to learn new materials thinking they are nothing but nuisance, and they ended up become actual problems for me later on.
However, that doesn't mean everyone else in my class had the same experience. One of my classmates had a hard time understanding the runtime complexity. In other words, the Big-O, Big-Omega and Big-Theta. So, I decided to discuss and helped him out, hopefully the conversation can also help others understanding the materials better. Many years ago, I learned that by trying to explain the concept to another, we are improving ourselves. Breaking down the materials and finding a way to explain help me understand the topic furthermore and memory them really well. Plus, I implied my skill and made a graph about it.
