CST 462 & CST 328 (Week 1)

While the weather was changing outside, my whole schedule changed inside. While CST 328, Digital Art and Design, offers the same format I have learned many times in other classes, CST 462 is different. Beside discussion and some required assignments similar to what I had in CST 300 Proseminar, CST 462 has a research paper as well as a community service. To be honest, I get overwhelmed at the beginning.

Let's start with CST 462, especially about the community service. At first when I saw it in my email, I did not feel too excited. I thought it is another volunteer work like I did in high school and community college. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, but I that is not in my favorite list either. However, the orientation cleared my mind where I learned that the project is actually a non-paid internship in some way. All of the sudden, I see this as an opportunity I have seek for a very long time: internship. I kept asking myself back then what else I can do beside my personal project to expand my working experience and improve my resume. If everything goes well with The Document Foundation and The LibreOffice, I am going to keep working until I land a job.

The second course is CST 328, where we are going to learn about design and UI elements for our applications, which is crucial for my project's front-end development. With week 1, we created a photo and some icons to introduce ourselves and get used to Photoshop and Illustration. This is not my first time using those two tools, but it's great to get back on them after a bunch of coding and IDE. With that said, I am excited and looking forward to what I can learn from this course.
