CST 438 Week 5
Summarize in a few sentences what you have learned this week.
This week, our group assignment gave me another reminder of how essential communication is in collaborative work. I’ve worked in group before, so the dynamic isn’t new, and neither are the obstacles we tend to run into. What stood out to me again is that technical skill alone doesn’t guarantee smooth teamwork. Even when everyone is capable, things can fall apart if we don’t keep each other informed.
We hit a few bumps because certain tasks weren’t moving as we had planned. It wasn’t due to laziness — sometimes people have family responsibilities, packed schedules, or they simply get stuck and don’t know how to proceed. But when those situations aren’t communicated, the team can’t adjust, redistribute work, or support each other. It creates bottlenecks that could have been avoided with a simple update.
This experience reinforced my belief that transparency is the foundation of any successful group project. Letting the team know when you’re struggling isn’t a weakness; it’s what keeps the workflow healthy. Sharing progress, clarifying schedules, and being honest about limitations helps maintain cohesion and prevents last‑minute stress. Overall, this week reminded me that good teamwork isn’t just about dividing tasks — it’s about staying connected, communicating openly, and making sure no one is left guessing about what’s happening.
