CST 438 Week 6

Question: Write a weekly entry describing important things you learned this week.

This week ended up teaching me more about teamwork and responsibility than I expected. While writing the system tests, I ran into an issue that initially felt frustrating and time‑consuming. But that frustration pushed me to slow down, examine the system from multiple angles, and use every resource available to trace the problem properly. That process reminded me that debugging isn’t just about fixing errors — it’s about understanding how different parts of the system interact and learning to stay calm when things don’t behave as expected.

Eventually, I discovered that the issue came from the front‑end section handled by my partner. My first instinct was to fix it myself, partly to keep the workflow moving. But after thinking it through, I realized it was better to leave it untouched and document the evidence clearly. This wasn’t about avoiding responsibility; it was about maintaining accountability within the team and ensuring that each member understands and owns their part of the project. It also reinforced the idea that “helping” isn’t always fixing everything — sometimes it’s giving others the space to correct their own work.

On the brighter side, our group assignment this week went noticeably smoother. Clear planning and communication made a huge difference. Everyone understood their tasks, deadlines were realistic, and discussions were more focused. It showed me how much easier collaborative work becomes when expectations are aligned early and everyone stays transparent about their progress.

Overall, this week reminded me that technical skills matter, but the way a team communicates, shares responsibility, and handles problems is just as important for a successful project.
